Hi Peony fans! This is Nat from AusChick Sews. Once again it’s the Merry Month of May, and I’m so excited to share another year of WEDDING WEEK! The beautiful creations you’ll see over the next few days have all been lovingly crafted by our talented group of pattern testers and I know you’ll be so inspired by them! With children’s and tween’s outfits perfect for special occasions such as weddings, first communion, baptisms, afternoon tea, fancy dinners and parties, you’re bound to find something for your special event. If this is your first time with us, make sure you check out our previous years’ Wedding Week posts.

This year we’re grateful to our friends at Farmhouse Fabrics who have graciously sponsored the looks of five of our sewists! Farmhouse Fabrics is THE place you want to shop in the US for all things heirloom: laces, organdy, Liberty of London, Swiss voile, linen – you will adore their collection!

As always, picking 2-3 photos of each creation is no easy feat! Be sure to check into the Peony Patterns Facebook Group each day to see more photos from each of these talented artists!

Finally, don't forget to take advantage of our pattern sale - get 30% off until Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Ashley Culbertson @aaculbertson

Ashley was was inspired by a photo she stumbled upon of sweet girls in simple, yet elegant, tulle dresses that seemed youthful and fun, but somewhat grown-up at the same time because of the simple silhouette, sewn up in neutral colors. She could envision her girls wanting to wear dresses like those again and again as they were fancy, but seemed easy to wear and play in as well!

Patterns used:

Ivy with a tea-length skirting and exposed ruffle. She added flutters to the fixed-strap option. This was her first Ivy, but it will not be the last!

Saffron skirt and top with a tulle overlay for the skirt.

Fabric used:

Crinkle Bobbinette and Sand Bobbinette over creamy Batiste (Farmhouse Fabrics)

Amber Campbell  @smileysuestudio

Isn’t this collection just so sweet? Amber teamed up with her sister-in-law, Sarah Campbell, to create this set of dresses for their girls. They went for a classic feel that allowed each girls' personality to shine.

Pattern used:

Sleeveless dress: Wisteria front bodice, flutter sleeves and waistband. Cassia back bodice. Juniper maxi skirt and an enlarged Bluebell bow at the waist.
Green dress: Olearia
Pintucked dress: Lupine bodice, Sweet Pea sleeves, and maxi length skirt with pintucks inspired by Pansy and adapted from Juniper.

Fabric used:

Bridal satin and embroidered tulle (JoAnn)

Laura Bardel @laura_bardel7

Laura wanted a vintage-style flower girl dress that was comfy and had some lace elements in it. We think it’s so swoon-worthy with that gorgeous flowing lace!

Fabric used:

Lace overlay on bodice and skirt ruffle pieces are Double Embroidered and Double Scalloped 'Ivory' Lace fabric from Farmhouse Fabrics.

Cream, white knit for skirt and bodice (JoAnn). Cream woven lining (JoAnn)

Helen Anderson @cromberson

This dress, combined with the stunning beach photography is everything you want for a flower girl or junior bridesmaid at a beach wedding! Helen drew inspiration from the beautiful fabric and wanted to create a classic, elegant and comfortable flower girl dress.

Sara Jean @sew_sewsara

When looking for inspiration, Sara found it in a beautiful dress with cutout sleeves and thought it was perfect for a spring wedding. We’re sure you’ll agree that the cut outs in this fabric are incredibly gorgeous and eye catching!

Patterns used:
Willow dress with an overlay. Jasmine sleeves without the elastic.

Fabric used:

Embroidered lawn from a local store with a Kona cotton underskirt.

Beth Varnadoe @twnboymama @threetotsphotography

Beth considers herself quite old fashioned and a lover of all things vintage! Old fashioned weddings make her think of lace, pearls and ruffles and she wanted to incorporate all three into her look. She also loves making her daughter's pageant dresses, so she also added a little of that flair as well.

Patterns used:

Honeysuckle with double-sided flutters, lengthened skirts with 1” removed from top layer and ruffle hem with fishing line.

Fabric used:

White bridal satin, pink organza (Fabric Wholesale Direct). Vintage pink lace overlay (stash, antique store). Pearl and lace trim (Hobby Lobby).

That's it for today! Remember to check in tomorrow morning for more amazing creations, and be sure to stock up on your favorite patterns during our Wedding Week sale! All patterns are 30% off until Sunday, May 19, 2024.
