Wedding Week 2024 - Day 2

Posted by Natasha Tung on

Welcome back to another day of Wedding Week! Today we’ll be showcasing another round of beautiful special occasion outfits for children, created with beginner-friendly sewing patterns from Peony Patterns. If you're planning a wedding, tea party, gala, or just need a fabulous dress, we hope these creations inspire you. And if you’re just joining us, you might want to scroll back a day to see yesterday’s collection!

This year we’re grateful to our friends at Farmhouse Fabrics who have graciously sponsored the looks of five of our sewists! Farmhouse Fabrics is THE place you want to shop in the US for all things heirloom: laces, organdy, Liberty of London, Swiss voile, linen – you will adore their collection!

Be sure to check into the Peony Patterns Facebook Group each day to see more photos from each of these talented artists!

Finally, don't forget to take advantage of our pattern sale - get 30% off until Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Erika Gomez @rosalina_marie.g

We just love this stunning dress by Erica Gomez! Her daughter exudes confidence and is certain to be the belle of the ball in this one! Erica describes herself as a hopeless romantic so her inspiration for her daughter’s dress was just that with lace of course! The dress is a simple design, but the lace makes it ever so elegant!

Patterns used:

She used Olearia for the lace overlay, Willow with sweetheart bodice, and Mimosa for the skirt.

Fabric used:

Tulle, organza, chiffon, lace, and cotton. (Farmhouse Fabrics, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn).

Lindsay Jones @twin_needle_sewing

Lindsay was inspired by a beautiful communion dress she found on Pinterest designed by Miele Moda. The combination of sweet fabrics, puff sleeves, and wide, swishy skirt, make this dress perfect for a princess!

Patterns used:

Acacia - bodice, Verbena – bodice overlay, Sleeves – Acacia and Willow, Skirt – Freesia

Fabric:

Pearl scattered mesh and eyelet jacquard knit (Hobby Lobby).

Candice Schoffstall @sewing4wildflowers

Candice always makes the most gorgeous things and showcases it with such beautiful photography! For this creation, she was inspired by the idea of a country/rustic/mountain wedding!

Patterns used:

Willow with Rosemary sleeves with sleeve cap cut straight across and added elastic to make cold shoulder sleeve. Sleeve added using Marigold sleeve attachment method. She did a gathered bodice panel and used crochet lace for straps. Candice added a high low skirt with ruffle.

Fabric used:

Printed and solid chiffon (JoAnn)

Chianti Andrews (Sons and Bows) @sonsandbows

Chianti’s inspiration was vintage pageant style and Lid’l Dolly dresses. We love the beautiful details on this dress, especially the delicate sheer puff sleeves and lace trims. Her daughter is definitely a princess in this one!

Patterns used:

Acacia bodice with modified Jasmine sleeves, and multiple circle skirts cut opened and attached together forming 3 layers. The top two are organza and bottom layer has been cut shorter for lining.

Fabric used:

Super stretch knit, organza (Etsy), trims (Hobby Lobby)

Bec Smith @twice_loved_creations

If you’ve been following our wedding week blogs for the last couple of years, this creation might look a little bit familiar to you! Bec wanted to reuse some of the beautiful fabrics she’d previously used, so she took two of her past dresses and turned them into something new for this year’s Wedding Week!

Patterns used:

Lily bodice with no sleeves; skirt adjusted to tea length.

Fabrics used:

Skirt lining (thrifted dress), tulle (FabricTrims)

Johanna Bergmann @lovethreadscollective

Wow! We just love this classic almost-black dress by Johanna! It’s perfect for so many formal occasions and works especially well for bigger kids who want to look a little more grown up! Johanna was inspired by a navy, gold and ivory dress gifted to her youngest daughter.

Patterns used:

Mulberry with lengthened skirt, shortened sleeve and ruffles added to the sleeve

Fabric used:

Lace (Fabricland)

That's it for today! Remember to check in tomorrow morning for more amazing creations, and be sure to stock up on your favorite patterns during our Wedding Week sale! All patterns are 30% off until Sunday, May 19, 2024.
