Wedding Week - Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of Peony Patterns' Wedding Week - and what an amazing week it has been, sharing so many gorgeous wedding themed creations with you! We're constantly overwhelmed with what our talented testing team can come up with! If you're planning a wedding, special occasion, or just need a fabulous dress, we hope these creations inspire you. As we've said on previous days, many of these looks are beginner friendly. It's amazing what some fancy fabrics will do!

Hydee Rahardja (Freesia Dress)
Each day this week, we've shared beautiful creations using Farmhouse Fabrics beautiful heirloom quality fabrics, and today we have one more! Farmhouse sponsored Hydee's look, which she created with the Peony Patterns Freesia Dress. This dress might look complicated, but it is truly beginner friendly!
Hydee liked the idea of white lace but wanted to use colour as well, so she layered tulle over a blue underskirt to soften the color and give it an ethereal quality. She added a rhinestone belt to add a bit of drama and make the dress feel extra special! This would make such a wonderful flower girl or junior bridesmaid dress, and being so easy to create, it would be perfect for weddings with large bridal parties!
Fabrics: Silk batiste (underskirt), lace (bodice), 2 layers of tulle (overskirt) - Farmhouse Fabrics
Tip! Hydee suggests using Wonder Tape to keep the lace overlay in place before basting it onto your bodice.
Nele De Roo (Freesia Dress)
One of the most amazing things about sewing, is being able to take the same pattern and create a totally different look - with *just* fabric! We just love Nele's Freesia dress, made with glitter dot tulle and satin polyester lining that she found at her local fabric store in Ghent, Belgium. Nele was inspired by her own dream wedding dresses for this look!
Jodie Pascoe (Gardenia Dress + Myrtle Dress)
Jodie lives for all the things with tulle, so it was no surprise she had to create a tulle dress for Wedding Week! She used the Gardenia bodice with Myrtle sleeves, and we just LOVE the look! She attached an applique to the bodice (Fabric, Laces & Trims), and sourced the baby blue bridal tulle from Shine Trimmings & Fabrics in Australia.
BJ Benson (Freesia Dress)
Do you see a trend going on here? BJ also took the Freesia Dress pattern with double skirt and created an adorable satin dress for her daughter! Her vision was "simple couture" and we love how she pulled it off! Her little one will love being a princess in this dress!
Kara Doiron (Banksia Dress)
Taking inspiration from her own wedding, Kara wanted to create the flower girl dress she had envisioned for her own big day, before she was a confident sewist! She took the Banksia dress, transforming it into an adorable dress that's sure to make any little one swoon! She used a silky polyester for the lining (Fabricland), an embroidered tulle for the overskirt (Fabricland), and some vintage lace for the bodice overlay and flutters (gifted from a neighbor!).
Tip! Kara recommends basting the lace overlay to a layer of lining, treating them as the outer layer, before attaching to a second lining piece.
Kayla Cooper (Gardenia Dress)
It's always a win when a fancy dress can still be comfy enough to run and play in! Kayla took the sleeveless Gardenia dress and created this lovely dress with European laundered linen from Iseefabric. Linen is also a great choice for a beach destination wedding!
Lindsay Harrell Jones (Myrtle Dress + Camellia Dress + Petunia Dress + Sunflower Hand Embroidery)
Lindsey used FOUR patterns to create her Wedding Week look and WOW! What an incredible heirloom dress she's made! Taking inspiration from vintage sewing patterns, Lindsey smocked and lengthened the Petunia Dress, incorporating Sunflower Hand Embroidery onto the front, added Myrtle sleeves with Camellia cuffs and ruffle, and the Camellia sash on the back. Definitely check our Facebook group to see pictures of the back of this dress, and more closeups of the front!
Lindsey used quilting cotton and insertion lace from JoAnn, and finished the inside with French Seams for a clean appearance. This will surely be treasured for generations!
Worarat Tanpipataree Robertson (Myrtle Dress, Ambrosia Hand Embroidery)
Our last look for day is a beautiful maxi Myrtle Dress with Ambrosia hand embroidery. Worarat did a beautiful job with this one, using fabric she found at an estate sale a long time ago! In addition to lengthening the dress, she used three layers of fabric in the skirt for extra volume. The Myrtle back is always a fantastic showstopper!
