Wedding Week 2023 - Day 2

Welcome back for day 2 of Wedding Week here at Peony Patterns!

Kathryn Bailey (Patterns Used: Calliandra and Daisy)

Kathryn really wanted to create a fairy tale wedding dress, something a princess might wear as a flower girl. We think she has created a regal and timeless piece fit for even the most upscale of weddings! Kathryn used our Calliandra bodice (sans flutters) and added a slight V to the bodice. Kathryn used the Daisy dress for the skirt with extra width to accommodate the hoop skirt and 5 tiers of ruffles sewn onto it. The tulle is from Tulletastic.

For more of a bespoke look, the bodice has soft layers of tulle pin-tucked by hand and a total of 13 yards of imported shimmer tulle and 6 yards of lining fabric. An impressive dress fit for a princess!

Jodie Pascoe (Patterns Used: Juniper)

Wedding stylists say that bold, bright colours are trending for 2023 weddings, so Jodie wanted to step outside her comfort zone and create something big, bold and beautiful! Jodie modified our Juniper pattern to have a slight soft V neck and in lieu of ties, the shoulders were fixed and the delicate tulle bows added after. Jodie used the tulle blog on the website to create the tulle maxi skirt. Plain red cotton sateen was used for the bodice and a red prima homespun was used for the skirt lining, both from Spotlight Australia. The red tulle was purchased by the bolt from Ebay.

Jodie is a huge believer that beautiful dresses don’t need to cost the world, so with that in mind her goal was to make the cheapest version she could, without taking away from the overall vision of the dress. The total cost of this stunning dress is $60! Weddings can be expensive, so we love that something like this can be created on a budget!

 

 Olivia Leger (Patterns Used: Ivy, Banksia, Juniper, Dandelion and Calliandra)

Olivias stunning glamarina (=Glam Ballerina!) look was created using tulle from Tulletastic. When you start working with our patterns, it is easy to start mixing and matching pattern pieces such as the bodice, skirts and other features to create your own unique look.

Olivia used 10 layers of fabric to create this delightful full skirt, including the top embroidered layer and the lining fabric. Horsehair braid was added to the tulle layers to create a delightful look.

Laura Bardel (Patterns Used: Myrtle, Calliandra, Dandelion)

Laura wanted to create a flower girl dress with a v shaped back and a puffy skirt. Calliandra pattern was the perfect base for the bodice, and then she mashed patterns from there, using the sleeves from the Myrtle pattern and the vintage length skirt from Dandelion.

Laura used a specialty lace (bodice overlay, sleeve main, & top skirt), white tulle (6 layers for skirt) and cream quilting cotton (lining pieces for sleeves, bodice, & bottom skirt) to create this beautiful look.

Erin Shoemaker (Patterns Used: Juniper)

Creating dresses just for play or to fulfill your child's wish can be a satisfying sew! Erin created this dress for her daughter, who described what her wedding dress would be if she was getting married.

Erin used a mixture of curtain lace, tulle, and cotton lawn (for the lining) and modified the hemline of Juniper to be a high low skirt. What an inspiration!
