Amber Campbell (Lily Dress + Gardenia Dress + Primrose Hand Embroidery)

"Timeless elegance" was the inspiration in Amber's mind, and she definitely achieved that with this stunning Lily + Gardenia dress! Using Swiss Mousseline with embroidered dots, Cotton Sateen, batiste, with velvet ribbon and Swiss trims, all sponsored by Farmhouse Fabrics, Amber was able to put together a most wonderful heirloom dress that will surely be treasured forever!

For this dress, Amber used the Lily bodice and skirt, slightly modifying the waistband to utilize the premade trim, and Gardenia sleeves. In addition to the beautiful trims, Amber also hand embroidered the neckline using the Primrose Hand Embroidery pattern.

If you haven't yet checked out Farmhouse Fabrics' selection of trims, you're definitely in for a treat! Amber loves how playing with trim is such an easy way to make a big impact!

Annie Arana (Wattle Dress)

And what is a wedding without something blue? We just love Annie's beautiful Wattle dress with simple gathered skirt! And her daughter's shoes really polish off the look so beautifully! She'd been hoarding this rosette tulle for the last three years, so we agree that she saved it for the perfect moment!

Tip! Cut the cap sleeve template straight across to create a short sleeve.

Bec Smith (Ivy Dress)

Here we have Bec's third and final wedding week look, and isn't it just delightful?! Bec wanted to make a pastel rainbow dress with "all the bling," and she definitely achieved that goal!

To create this look, Bec used the Ivy bodice with maxi skirt, layered pastel tulle for the skirt, and overlaid tulle and beading over the bodice. (Fabric: Spotlight)

Isn't the beadwork just exquisite?

Tip! Bec says tulle can be slippery, so a small stitch length helps. Also two layers of gathering stitches helps when fitting to the bodice.

Laura Sacred (Gardenia Dress, Daisy Dress)

Laura was inspired by Disney's Encanto for her two daughters' dresses. She made Gardenia (purple) according to the pattern, and modified Daisy to be sleeveless for her youngest. We love how they turned out, and the mesh overlays are so, so pretty! She found the poly-silk and mesh from her local JoAnn store.

Hannah Bananna Pilgrim (Wattle Dress)

Hannah's sister in law requested flower girl dresses, right in the nick of time for our Wedding Week celebration! To create each one, Hannah used the Wattle dress and adjusted the back. She used stretch lace (East Coast Fabric), Cotton Lycra (Frankie Bear Fabrics), and Tulle (Spotlight). We love the combination of colours and textures!

Gynelle Marie Rock (Gardenia Dress)

Gynelle created two absolutely beautiful dresses for her daughters! We love how each one uses the Gardenia pattern, but both look so different from one another, with just a couple of modifications and different fabric choices! She used organza and satin fabrics for these ones.

Erin Shoemaker (Poppy Dress)

Erin was inspired by a soft romantic garden wedding. She used the Poppy Dress with no modifications, creating a lovely airy effect with flocked tulle and an embroidered bodice overlay.

Tip! Erin recommends using as much tulle as possible!

Jean Bee (Petunia Dress)

Jean Bee created her whimsical dress with the Petunia pattern, modifying the skirt with multiple layers of tulle. She used silk charmeuse for the bodice, and soft tulle with a plain woven lining underneath.

Tip! Jean recommends using a gathering foot to speed up the process, and to be patient when gathering lots of tulle!

Laura Hilton (Posie Dress)

And now for our final look of the week! While Laura was visiting Tash in Australia, they found this beautiful silk jacquard brocade remnant and coordinating ticking stripe (The Fabric Store, Sydney), and knew they would make a most perfect Posie Dress! The colour is just so perfect on her daughter, Bonnie, and we love how coordinated the flowers in her hair are too!

Posie continues to be one of our most popular designs, and with no modifications to this particular one, it's a straightforward sew for a beginner! We also have a video sew-along tutorial available if you prefer to learn that way. Join our Peony Patterns Sew-Along group on Facebook for this and other pattern video tutorials! (Hot tip: Our next one is Myrtle!)

Thanks for reading along this week! We hope you've been inspired and encouraged to sew your own special occasion outfits for the children in your life!
