The Little Mermaid
With the release of the live action Little Mermaid this year, many of our testers were inspired! Today we have a round-up of FIVE different and beautiful Ariel looks! I think you'll agree the creativity in each one is just amazing!
Nastasia (@poshpillar) wowed us with this incredibly luxe Ariel princess gown made with a combination of flowy chiffon and lawn. So perfect for a mermaid! Her daughter picked this costume because she loved the new little mermaid movie. Nastasia loves that Halle Bailey looks like her and her daughters and was so excited to recreate the beautiful dress that she wears when she gets her legs.
The details on the lace-up back are so, so cute!!
Fabric: Chiffon (JoAnn), pleated chiffon trim, and cotton lawn lining. Nastasia hand-dyed all of the fabric.
Sara Jean's (@Sew_sewsara) creativity for her Ariel interpretation really blew us away! Such a creative idea to have Ariel sitting on a rock, all in the same dress AND it even converts into a more casual dress! Her daughter, Emmie, was also thrilled to see a princess that looked like her, and has been obsessed with the film since it came out!
Patterns: Mimosa with Apple Berry waistband; Wattle
Fabric: Sequins (upcycle), quilting cotton (JoAnn Fabric)
Elise Sullivan (@Sullivan&Thread) captured Ariel beautifully in this voluminous ball gown! Her daughter picked Ariel for their upcoming Disney Cruise and it's been so fun for Elise to make her dreams come to life!
Patterns: Dahlia, Mimosa, Gardenia, Armeria
Fabric: JoAnn Fabrics
Kirsten Mann (@Kirsten_arthur_flo) created a two-piece outfit for her daughter Flo's Ariel costume. Flo is currently obsessed with mermaids - she really wants to be one and checks for them in the sea at every opportunity. She also loves sequins and tulle so Kirsten tried to incorporate all the things she loved into this costume.
Fabric: Sequin fabric (eBay), Tulle (Aliexpress), Pearls
Bec Smith (@twice.loved.creations) made this exquisite Ariel dress with a combination of fabrics that gives wonderful texture to this costume. She loves all the trims used on the bodice and the full tulle skirt. The sequinned tulle was the perfect addition to the skirt!
Pattern: Dandelion
Fabric: Spotlight Australia, Shine Trimmings & Fabrics
Frozen
The magic of Frozen is still popular with little girls, and we just love the two Elsa and Anna costumes Olivia Leger (@nenengchildrenclothing) created - made in a knit fabric, these dresses are perfect for kids wanting comfy, easy to wear costumes!
Patterns: Wattle (Anna); Fern, Periwinkle (Elsa)
Fabric: Cotton Spandex knit
Kimberly Seegmiller (@Seegmiller_sews) created a gorgeous Elsa dress for her little one, and we especially love the detachable cape! Her daughter has been wanting a maxi Elsa dress ever since last Halloween was over. She loves Elsa and listens to Frozen or Frozen 2 soundtrack every night as she goes to bed.
Patterns: Acacia (bodice and sleeves), Marigold (overlay), Calliandra (skirt, train)
Fabric: chiffon (Hobby Lobby), Beaded organza (Cali Fabrics), teal silky solid (JoAnn Fabrics), tulle (Tulletastic)
Sleeping Beauty
Melanie Trunzo (@adventuresofthreelittletrunzos)'s daughter loves princesses so it was only fitting they chose to create Aurora. This is such a fun, twirly dress!
Fabric: satin, tulle (GJ’s Discount Fabrics; Shine Trimmings)
Snow White
Shara Nelson (@handmadenelly) created this fun casual Snow White outfit for her daughter. They're headed to Disneyland as a family soon, and her daughter wanted a comfortable costume for the trip. They decided to go for a Disneybound Snow White look, so she can still look the part but not worry about a poufy dress getting in the way.
Be sure to check back again every day this week for more wonderful creativity from our talented team! Tomorrow we'll be sharing our collection of Comic, Anime and Video Game inspired costumes - they're so fun and creative!
Patterns: Apple Berry Tee, Peach, Magnolia, Bluebell
Fabric: Raspberry Creek Fabrics
